Centralized remote drivers, with power beyond 10kW, can energize hundreds of grow lights. These potent drivers can be strategically positioned away from the plant canopy in a climate-regulated control room.

Thrive Agritech offers two versions of its OptiDrive system – OptiDrive DC and OptiDrive DE. OptiDrive DC is typically used in existing facilities when upgrading from HPS to LED, while OptiDrive DE is recommended for new construction.

OptiDrive DC

When upgrading from high pressure sodium (HPS) to LED lighting, Thrive’s OptiDrive DC power system has several benefits. By separating the drivers from the LED grow lights and relocating them to a climate-optimized control room, significant improvements in reliability of both the drivers and the grow lights can be achieved. And any required maintenance on the drivers and lights becomes substantially easier and less costly.

OptiDrive DC is a modular system consisting of a 4kW driver module as the building block. Three of the driver modules are inserted into a driver shelf, which is typically located within a rack. The number of shelves in the rack is dependent on the number of lights that require power.

OptiDrive DE

The heart of the OptiDrive DE system is the use of digital electricity to power the grow lights in new construction environments. With digital electricity, specially designed drivers generate packets of energy that are transmitted over standard low voltage wire to power the LED lights. By using low voltage wire, installation costs are dramatically reduced. And by remotely locating the drivers, reliability of the lighting system is enhanced.

Digital signals are generated by the OptiDrive DE Transmitter, and delivered to the OptiDrive DE Receiver where the power is conditioned and distributed to each of the grow lights. Multiple OptiDrive DE Transmitters are normally stacked within a standard server rack.
